How HS classification works

The Harmonized System is shared worldwide for the first 6 digits: chapter (2) → heading (4) → subheading (6). Each country then adds its own digits (8–10) carrying its duty rates and rules. Getting the 6-digit level right is the exporter's job; the final national line is confirmed with the customs broker at destination. A wrong code means wrong duty, delays, or a rejected entry — which is why this library sticks to the standard HS texts, verbatim.
